چکیده

Background The haemodynamic response to exercise is an important health marker. Phase contrast MR (PCMR) is an accurate method of assessing cardiac output and novel realtime sequences allow assessment of flow during exercise. However, such sequences often have time-consuming reconstruction algorithms, which prevent continuous cardiac output monitoring during exercise. Graphical processing units (GPU) with multiple processors offer the possibility of performing extremely fast reconstruction of real-time MR data. Such reconstructions would make continuous assessment of cardiac output during exercise possible and this projects aim to validate this approach.

Real time flow with fast GPU reconstruction for continuous assessment of cardiac output

PURPOSE To demonstrate the feasibility of real-time phase contrast magnetic resonance (PCMR) assessment of continuous cardiac output with a heterogeneous (CPU/GPU) system for online image reconstruction. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty healthy volunteers underwent aortic flow examination during exercise using a real-time spiral PCMR sequence. Acquired data were reconstructed in online fashion us...

Ultra-Fast Image Reconstruction of Tomosynthesis Mammography Using GPU

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a technology that creates three dimensional (3D) images of breast tissue. Tomosynthesis mammography detects lesions that are not detectable with other imaging systems. If image reconstruction time is in the order of seconds, we can use Tomosynthesis systems to perform Tomosynthesis-guided Interventional procedures. This research has been designed to study u...

Effect of Training Intensity on HIF-1a Gene Expression and Cardiac TG Content in Rats with Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Introduction: HIF-1a is an important regulator in response to hypoxia that affects various genes involved in energy metabolism. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of exercise intensity on HIF-1a gene expression and cardiac TG content in rats with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Methods: The present study was performed experimentally on 40 male Wistar rats. Mice were randoml...

Noninvasive, automated and continuous cardiac output monitoring by pulmonary capnodynamics: breath-by-breath comparison with ultrasonic flow probe.

BACKGROUND Cardiac output monitoring is most important where cardiovascular stability is potentially threatened, such as during major surgery and in critically ill patients. However, continuous monitoring of cardiac output is still not performed routinely during anesthesia and critical care, because of invasiveness, expense, and inaccuracy of available technologies. METHODS A technique termed...

Evaluation of two methods for continuous cardiac output assessment during exercise in chronic heart failure patients.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of two techniques for the continuous assessment of cardiac output in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF): a radial artery pulse contour analysis method that uses an indicator dilution method for calibration (LiDCO) and an impedance cardiography technique (Physioflow), using the Fick method as a reference. Ten male CHF patients (New Yo...
